Clean, Plumb Holes Through Any Floor
Vertical core drilling is the most common way to route pipe, conduit and ducts between floors or below a slab. We use stand-mounted rigs, bolted down or vacuum-based, to drill perfectly plumb holes through slabs-on-grade, elevated concrete decks, precast plank, topping slabs and post-tension floors.
When drilling elevated decks we set up water-capture rings and containment below, so occupied floors, ceilings and equipment stay dry and clean.

Common Vertical Applications
- Floor drains & trench drain outlets
- Toilet flanges & waste lines
- Plumbing & mechanical risers
- Electrical floor boxes & conduit stub-ups
- Fire sprinkler & standpipe penetrations
- Bollard, post & sign mounting holes
- Elevator & equipment pit penetrations
- Core samples & slab thickness checks
Post-tension slabs: Never drill a PT slab blind. Before any PT penetration, tendon locations must be identified and marked (arranged through the GC or owner). We drill only to cleared, marked locations.
What You Can Expect
- Rigs bolted down or vacuum-mounted for zero bit wander
- Water capture rings and below-deck containment
- Drilling only to cleared, marked layouts on PT slabs
- Cores removed and work area cleaned before we leave
Vertical Core Drilling FAQs
Can you drill through a post-tension slab?
Yes — once the tendon locations have been identified and marked on the slab. We coordinate with your GC and core only at cleared locations. Drilling PT slabs blind is never worth the risk.
Will water leak to the floor below?
We use water-capture rings, wet vacuums and containment below the hole so water and slurry are controlled at the source.
